To change door furniture you will firstly need to remove the old locks and handle.

8. Use a bradawl to mark the position of the holes
9. Place the lock on the front of the door with the plate on the front of the door,mark out the diagram of the plate.
10. Drill out the hole for the lock to fit into.
11. Fit lock into hole screw into place.

A rotten door frame should be repaired or replaced if the old one is beyond repair.External frames are more prone to this because of the effects of weathering
1. Make a 45 degree cut above the rotten section.
2.test surrounding area to make sure that you have cut out all the rotten wood
3. Prise the rotten section away from the frame.
4. Cut a new piece to match the cut out section at 45 degrees
5. Glue the two cut ends together and screw the new piece to the existing post.
6. Treat wood with primer or stain.
