SHOWERS
Before planning to fit a shower you will need to ensure that there is adequate “water pressure” otherwise you will only get a “trickle”when you turn the shower on.
You also need to make sure that the water tank is situated above the height of the shower.
If you discover that you may have a low water pressure then the easiest option would be to fit a PUMP You must also decide which type of shower you want to install:
1. MANUAL MIXER: Wall mounted with the hot and cold water supplies controlled by a single knob-uses both the hot and clod supplies
2. THERMOSTATIC:As with manual mixers-the difference here is that
This type has a built in stabiliser which allows the water to maintain a constant temperature even when someone turns on the water in another part of the house.so you will not suddenly be having a cold water shower if the taps are been used in another part of the house
A shower pump or booster pump is a small device designed to be hidden under the bath or in a cupboard. It is an electrical unit with a motor which must be wired to the mains supply
There are two types:
SINGLE- pump-between the mixer and spray head
DUAL-Fitted to the hot & cold water supplies and boosts supply before they reach the mixer unit
SHOWER PUMPS
3. POWER SHOWER: These are single units with a built in pump which mixes the water before it reaches the head.
The benefits of this type are:
1. It only needs a cold water connection
2. I heats up the water instantly,no need to wait for it to warm up.
DISADVANTAGE:requires connection to a 40 amp fuse in the fuse box which may mean a lot of electrical work
Towel radiators can be a good thing for decorative purposes as well a somewhere to hand your washing when you are short of space-This requires draining the central heating system-removing the radiator and adjusting the pipe work to fit it-call a HANDYMAN to do it
