Most modern fuse boxes are of the type where you just press a button or flip a switch if it trips.

If you have one that still uses the old fuse or wire the have it replaced if you can afford to do so .normally this does not require rewiring but then again if it is really old then the likely hood of the wires being up to date or sound are slim.But have it checked all the same.Your fuse box will have the same faults whether it is old or new.The most common being:

An appliance is faulty and making it short-turn off the main power-switch off all the appliances -turn on the mains power-switch on the appliances one by one,the faulty appliance will trip the fuse box again

Replace that appliance.
